Design File Preparation

Getting this right saves time and avoids rework. Here is exactly what your engraver needs:

File Requirements

  • Logo format: Vector file (SVG, AI, EPS, or PDF). Not a PNG or JPEG. Vector files scale cleanly at any size.
  • Resolution: If you must use a raster image, minimum 300 DPI at final size.
  • Color: Laser engraving is monochrome. Provide a single-color version of your logo.
  • File size: Keep it simple. Fine details under 1mm will not engrave cleanly. Simplify intricate logos for engraving.

Design Tips

  • Thick lines engrave better than thin lines. Minimum 1pt stroke weight.
  • Sans-serif fonts are safer than serif fonts at small sizes.
  • Leave at least 5mm margin from the edge of the crystal.
  • 3D sub-surface engraving needs a 3D model file for complex shapes. Simple logos work with 2D vector files.

What to Order First (by Firm Type)

Law Firm: Start with 5 desktop cubes for top referral sources + 1 lobby nameplate. Budget: $575-975.

Financial Advisory: Start with 10 desktop rectangles as client milestone gifts + 1 lobby sign. Budget: $1,200-2,550.

Healthcare Practice: Start with a lobby sign + 3 desktop pieces for referring physicians. Budget: $575-1,075.

Real Estate: Start with closing gift cubes (order 10 at a time for volume pricing). Budget: $750-1,250.

Care and Display

  • Clean with a soft, lint-free cloth. Glass cleaner works but avoid ammonia-based products on coated pieces.
  • Display away from direct sunlight to prevent any long-term yellowing of adhesives (rare but possible with some bases).
  • For desk pieces, a small LED light base ($10-20) dramatically enhances the visual impact of sub-surface engraved pieces.
